Safety Standards

Last updated: 30 October 2026

LFG — Looking For Group ("LFG", "we", "us" or "our") is a community platform for finding people to play games with. Safety is not a feature we bolt on — it is the foundation of the community we are building. These Safety Standards explain the rules everyone must follow, the tools we give you to protect yourself, and how we enforce them.

We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for gamers of all backgrounds. We do not tolerate harassment, hate, exploitation or abuse of any kind on the platform. We design our safety systems to meet the requirements of the Google Play Store, the Apple App Store, Australian law including the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth), and international child-safety obligations.

These standards apply to everyone who uses the LFG mobile app and website (the "Services"). They form part of our Terms of Service, and our Privacy Policy explains how we handle the information we collect to keep you safe. Breaking these standards may result in content removal, feature restrictions, account suspension or permanent ban. Safety is a shared responsibility — we provide the tools, enforcement and reporting pathways, and we expect every member of the community to treat others with respect and to report anything that does not look right.

1. General safety standards

Everyone on LFG must follow these rules. The following conduct is prohibited everywhere on the Services, including profiles, group posts, chat messages and usernames:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, age or sexual orientation
  • Sexual content, solicitation, or sexually explicit material of any kind
  • Violence, graphic content, or promotion of self-harm or dangerous activities
  • Scams, phishing, fraud, or attempts to obtain another person's money, account details or personal information
  • Doxxing — sharing another person's private information without their consent
  • Impersonation of any person, brand or organisation
  • Spam, unsolicited advertising, or promoting external gambling, dating, crypto or adult services
  • Selling or distributing cheats, hacks, bots, stolen accounts or in-game currency for real money
  • Content that promotes, facilitates or advertises illegal activity of any kind

2. Reporting and blocking tools

Every profile, group and message on LFG can be reported, and every user can be blocked. You do not need to explain yourself to anyone to use these tools, and using them will never count against your account.

When you block someone, they cannot see your profile, contact you, or join your groups. When you report something, it goes directly to our moderation queue. Reports about serious safety issues — including anything involving a minor — are prioritised and escalated immediately.

You can also contact us directly at support@lfgapp.com.au for anything that needs urgent human attention. If you believe someone is in immediate physical danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.

3. Moderation and enforcement

We review reported content and accounts, and we act on violations using a proportionate response: content removal, warnings, feature restrictions, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform. Serious violations — especially anything involving the safety of a child — result in immediate permanent bans and reports to the relevant authorities.

We use a combination of automated screening tools and trained human review to detect violations. Moderation decisions can be appealed by contacting us at support@lfgapp.com.au. We preserve evidence of serious violations, including communications and account data, where required to support law enforcement or regulatory action.

4. Child safety standards

LFG is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 13. Users between 13 and the age of digital consent in their country (16 in most Australian states and the EU) require verifiable parental or guardian consent to use the Services, in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and equivalent laws overseas.

Because gaming communities naturally include teenagers, we apply additional protections for all users we have reason to believe are minors:

  • No personalised advertising is knowingly served to users under 16, and we do not run behavioural profiling of minors
  • Direct messages between accounts with a significant age gap are screened, and suspicious patterns are escalated to human review
  • Age-restricted content and adult-themed groups are prohibited, and any group found hosting them is removed and its organisers banned
  • We provide prominent, age-appropriate in-app safety messaging, including guidance on not sharing personal information with people you have only met online
  • Parents and guardians can contact us at support@lfgapp.com.au to report concerns about a minor's account
  • If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, or that a minor is using the Services without required consent, we delete the account and its personal information

5. Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE)

LFG has an absolute zero-tolerance policy towards child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSEA) in any form. This includes creating, sharing, storing, searching for, linking to or requesting such material, as well as any attempt to groom, coerce, solicit or sexually exploit a minor through the Services.

Any account found to be involved in CSAM or CSEA — whether through content, messages, profile material or coordination with other users — is permanently and immediately banned, and we report the matter to the relevant authorities. In Australia, that includes obligations under the Online Safety Act 2021 and referral to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) and state and federal police. Where applicable, we also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States and to police services in other countries.

We proactively detect and prevent CSAM and grooming behaviour through:

  • Automated detection and filtering of known CSAM imagery and content signatures, using industry-standard hash-matching technology
  • Automated and human screening of chat, profiles and groups for grooming patterns, sexual solicitation of minors and other high-risk signals
  • Friction and warnings on high-risk actions, such as attempts to move conversations about minors off-platform
  • One-tap reporting on every profile, message and group, with all reports involving minors escalated to a human moderator immediately
  • Retention of evidence related to suspected CSAM or CSEA in a secure, access-controlled environment, and full cooperation with law enforcement investigations
  • We do not, under any circumstances, host, tolerate or defer action on CSAM. There are no appeals, second chances or warnings for violations of this section. If you encounter CSAM or suspected child exploitation anywhere on the Services, report it immediately through the in-app report tool or at support@lfgapp.com.au — do not download, share or forward the material under any circumstances.
  • If a child in your care is in immediate danger, contact police on 000 (Australia) or your local emergency number straight away.

6. Scams, phishing and account security

Gaming communities are frequently targeted by scammers. LFG will never ask for your password, payment details or account credentials through chat or email, and neither will our staff. Be wary of anyone offering to sell game accounts, boosting services, or asking you to click external links or download files.

If you see scam or phishing behaviour, report it. We remove confirmed scam accounts permanently, and we may publish warnings to the community about active scam patterns.

7. Mental health and player wellbeing

Gaming should be fun, and communities can be a lifeline — but they can also be intense. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. In Australia, contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800. We provide in-app links to these services, and we treat content promoting self-harm as a serious violation of these standards.

If you are worried about another user's immediate safety, contact emergency services first, then report the concern to us so we can support any investigation.

8. Cooperation with authorities

We cooperate with law enforcement, child-safety organisations and regulators in Australia and internationally, within the limits of applicable law. We respond to valid legal requests, preserve evidence of serious violations, and proactively report suspected criminal conduct — particularly anything involving the exploitation of children — to the appropriate authorities.

9. Changes to these standards

We update these Safety Standards as our platform, our tools and the law evolve. Significant changes will be announced in the app or by email before taking effect. The current version is always available at lfgapp.com.au/safety-standards.
